The Around Beavertail Swim
The flagship event of RIOW, The Around Beavertail Swim is an annual marathon swim around Beavertail Island in Jamestown, Rhode Island, USA. Beavertail is connected by a small isthmus to Conanicut Island, so the 11.1 km route is technically a point-to-point, near-circumnavigation of the island. This is Rhode Island’s only annually held open water marathon swim
Rhody Water Polo Tournamet
Rhode Island’s first and only open water water polo tournament, held on Narrow River in North Kingstown. The first edition of this tournament in 2026 yielded 10 teams comprised of players from organized masters programs, college varsity, college club, and many former players getting together rag-tag teams. Let’s see if Polo Bears can defend their title in 2027.
The Ocean State Swim
After postponing in 2026 due to injury, our President Pat Reyes will take a 43-mile solo swim across Rhode Island’s coastline in 2027 as part of a fundraiser. This course has never been attempted, is completely of his own design, and will likely take upward of 20 continuous hours to complete. Completely self-funded, all donations will go toward the efforts of RIOW Marine Science. Please consider a donation!
